University of Maryland, College Park - Student Government Association
We are the SGA
What do we do?
- We amplify your voice. The SGA advocates for causes students care about.
- We fund student groups. The SGA distributes money to groups so they can achieve their goals.
- We create events. The SGA plans and organizes events like Wild and Crazy Terps Field Day and Crab Fest.

What We've Planned |

Here are some of the things we're most proud of having accomplished:
- Working with Capstone Management, the university, and the City of College Park to fund and construct a crosswalk on Knox Road near Commons 3 and 4, thus ensuring the safety of UMD students to access Downtown College Park safely
- Designing more web-based tools to increase the efficiency of the more than 350 SGA-funded student groups
- Running a successful Get Out The Vote effort in conjunction with TerpImpact
|
Here is a taste of what we're working on now:
- Conducting forums to effectively represent the student voice to campus Administrators as well as state and local government
- Organizing the annual Terrapin Pride Day, where students lobby Maryland legislators
- Working with administrators to ensure adequate distribution of resources to colleges

Here are just some of the events we have planned for the coming year:
- The CrabFest, scheduled for Oct. 22, is, now in its fourth year. Each year, this sold out event brings out students to enjoy a night of crabs and fun with their fellow students at Cole Field House
- The Haunted House, where hundreds of students have a terrifying time as the Stamp Student Union gets turned into the scariest place on campus
- The annual Spring Barbeque proves to be an extremely popular event year in and year out
- The SGA Speaker Series. Be on the lookout for relevant, high-profile speakers in the coming months
